Bars and clubs open up and close down very often in the island, so by the time you arrive this list might be a little outdated. If you like dancing you are going to love San Andres, no party or funeral is finished with at least one set of dancing.

Banzai: This is a small surfers theme bar, it is mostly visited by the high class locals. The decoration is simply amazing as one of the former owners is a very talented bohemian artist. Banzai offers a lot of cocktails, hard alcohol and beer and its not overly expensive. They have very yummy sushi some Thursdays, check their Facebook page.

Interstate 80's: For the 80's nostalgia the 80's is a theme bar, very true to its style with fairly good prices. They even have a Nintendo hooked to a black and white TV where you can play Duck Hunt and Super Mario.

Play Off Sports Bar: If you like sports and want to catch your team play, this is the place to go, they are the only sports bar in San Andres with direct TV for your sporting needs. NBA, NHL, NFL and European Football can be watched here.

Taberna Melon Kiss: despite its cheesy name, this bar is fun if you are going with a group of people. it is the only one that offers every day karaoke with a giant list of songs in Spanish and a couple of pages of songs in English. CLOSED

Sweet Mama's House: This one is very erratic to the type of people it caters to and the music it plays, so it is very hard to define it. The same way you could find it playing lounge music you can find it playing Reggeton and Vallenato. Go figure.

Caribbean: Everyone keeps telling me this is a good place to go, from what i have seen from the outside everyone looks like they are 15 years old.

La Perla: This bar is owned by a Canadian lady with a great vision of what a beach bar should be like. Located in San luis visiting this bar is higly recommended. CLOSED

Lord Pierre Bar: The food and music are horrible in this one, but you can't beat the location. Located in the pier of the lord pierre hotel you can have a night view of the whole downtown beach along with some decent cocktails.

Kella's Bar: The original and long standing kella's bar is a dying breed of bars in San Andres. This is the only authentic Rastafari reggae music bar left in San Andres.

Laka Laka: This is the closest bar from the hostel, it has very strange hours which I haven't been able to figure out, everytime i have tried to go there is closed. I do know is open early morning for breakfast. This bar caters to 40+ local crowd. CLOSED

La Curva: Stay away from this one.

Di yard: Nice setting, great decoration, decent music and horrible food although they do sell churros and coconut ice cream which both are pretty good. CLOSED

Snapper Cave: Never been to this one, but Maria Andrea Saleme AKA Meme keeps telling me is really good if you are having an affair. CLOSED

Extasis: For a real South American experience you have to go at least once to Extasis, This club is on top of the "Sol Caribe Centro" on the 7th floor and has a capacity for over 500 people. There's a consumable cover charge of $15.000.

Blue Deep: Same as above, but in the Sunrise Beach hotel.

Coco Loco: Newest club in San Andres with a cover charge of $20.000 non consumable offer a pretty nice club with all the average bells and whistles. The only thing that is worth mentioning is that they have a peer overlooking the ocean.

Galeon Morgan: If you don't mind being set back $70.000, this party is actually very worth it. it includes an open bar, live reggae music and a pirate themed party on a vintage boat. You can purchase tickets for this at the hostel.

Macondo: I've only been here once, and it sucked. Some guest have told me that they've had a great time in it.

Sexy Bars*

Prostitution in Colombia is somewhat legal, it can only be performed in authorized places which the government regularly visits and test the workers for STD, unlike Cartagena and some other cities in Colombia you will not see any prostitution in the streets nor the clubs and bars.

Los Arrecifes: Never been to this place and have heard some horror stories which I have no way of knowing if were true or not.

El Elefante Blanco: Translates "The White Elephant" which according to Wikipedia "A white elephant is an idiom for a valuable but burdensome possession of which its owner cannot dispose and whose cost (particularly cost of upkeep) is out of proportion to its usefulness or worth" I guess they didn't give much though to the name. Never been here either, from what i have heard is a very tacky badly run place.

Las Vegas, AKA Club Campestre: which translates "Country Club": This is the only place of the 3 that I have actually set a foot on. Before you wonder; yes, Jenniffer (My GF) knows I went there and; no, I did not get laid. In the inside this place looks like your average strip club, the girls as a rule of thumb are not local. I did not bother to ask for rates, but I'm assuming you pay by the hour.
UPDATE SEP 2012: I went there for a second time for a bachelor party of a good friend of mine (not my idea. Yes, my GF knows and no, I didn't get laid) This time around I did ask for rates and although I won't post them here here's my personal opinion. If I were to pay to get laid, I would at least try to score some good looking girls, there was no good looking girls, they all looked like Jabba de Hutt.

*Keep in mind that in the last 4 year and due to sexual tourism and local pressure the Colombian Government has taken the protection of children very seriously, having sex with a minor will surely land you in jail. And in a Third world jail, for sure you will end up being someone's little bitch. If you try to check in with an underage minor to our hostel, the police will be call immediatly.
